National Events:

NINL privatization:

  • The privatisation of Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd ( NINL ) was completed on 4 July 2022 . It was handed over to Tata group firm TSLP . NINL is the second successful privatisation by the current government .
  • NINL is a company promoted by MMTC Ltd , Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation of Orissa limited ( IPICOL ) and other government agencies .

 

‘ Greenko School of Sustainable Science and Technology ‘ ( GSSST ):

  • Greenko and IIT Hyderabad have signed an MoU to launch India’s first dedicated school for sustainable science and technology .
  • The ‘ Greenko School of Sustainable Science and Technology ‘ ( GSSST ) aims to plug the rising research , education and skills gaps caused by the imperatives of sustainable development . GSSST will induct students for MTech and Ph.D.

 

125th birth anniversary of Alluri Sitarama Raju : 4 July 2022:

  • 125th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju was observed on 4 July 2022 . Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a 30 – ft bronze statue of him in Andhra Pradesh .

 

Swami Vivekananda’s death anniversary : 4 July:

  • 4 July marks the death anniversary of Swami Vivekananda . He was a philosopher who introduced ideals of ‘ Vedanta ‘ and ‘ Yoga ‘ to the western world .He was born in Calcutta on 12 January 1863 .
  • He founded the Ramakrishna Mission at Belur Math by the river Ganga . He was the chief disciple of the Indian mystic Ramakrishna .

 

National Conference on Food and Nutrition Security:

  • The Dept of Food and Public Distribution will organize a National Conference on Food and Nutrition Security in India on 5 Jul 22 in New Delhi .
  • It is aimed at facilitating cross learning , disseminating best practices for schemes under Public Distribution System and strengthening the focus on nutritional security .
  • Consumer Affairs Minister Piyush Goyal will address the one – day conference .

 

Sahyadri and Kadmatt:

  • As part of their deployment to South East Asia , Indian Naval Ships Sahyadri and Kadmatt , ited Singapore from 1-3 July 2022 .
  • INS Sahyadri is an indigenously built multi – role stealth Frigate and INS Kadmatt is an indigenously built ASW Corvette .
  • The IN crew participated in professional interactions with the Singapore Navy ( RSN ) towards enhancing mutual cooperation and interoperability .

 

BBB:

  • The government has approved the resolution for establishing the Financial Services Institutions Bureau ( FSIB ) in place of the Banks Board Bureau ( BBB ) .
  • The FSIB will now select the chiefs of public sector banks & insurance companies . Bhanu Pratap Sharma , former Chairman , BBB has been appointed as the initial Chairperson of FSIB for a term of 2 years . The BBB was originally set up in 2016 .

 

‘ Naari Ko Naman’:

  • Himachal Pradesh CM Jai Ram Thakur on 30 June 2022 launched the ‘ Naari Ko Naman ‘ scheme in Dharamshala .
  • Under this scheme , the Himachal Road Transport Corporation ( HRTC ) will charge women travellers only half the fare for their travel within the state .
  • Thakur also announced a reduction in the minimum bus fare from Rs 7 to Rs 5 for all passengers across the state .

 

CII Quality Ratna Award:

  • Ashok Soota , founder and Executive Chairman of Happiest Minds Technologies , has been conferred with CII Quality Ratna Award 2021 .
  • This award is given annually in recognition of outstanding leadership , contribution , and distinguished service to the Quality Movement in India .
  • It was constituted in the year 2019 . Confederation of Indian Industry ( CII ) President – Sanjiv Bajaj.

 

’Project Surya’:

  • ReNew Power in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme ( UNEP ) and Self – Employed Women’s Association of India ( SEWA ) , has launched ‘ Project Surya ‘.
  • Under this programme , 1000 low – income women salt pan workers will be trained as solar panel & solar pump technicians at Dhokavada village in the Patan district of Gujarat . It will be supported by National Skill Development Corp.

 

NTPC:

  • NTPC has been recognized as one of the ” Most Preferred Workplaces of 2022 ” . It was recognized in the premier edition of ” Most Preferred Workplaces 2022 ” organized by Team Marksmen in association with India Today on 1 July 2022 .
  • The award showcases and celebrates organizations which have managed to maximize employee wellbeing , engagement and productivity alongside organizational performance .

 

Tamil Nadu Events:

Solar cell , module manufacturing unit:

  • Tata Power has signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government to invest about 3,000 crore to set up solar cell , module manufacturing unit in Tirunelveli , Tamil Nadu .
  • The new plant in Tamil Nadu will produce High Wattage Modules with industry – leading efficiencies . Tata Power Solar’s Tamil Nadu facility will be the second such manufacturing unit after Bengaluru .

 

Semiconductor technology space:

  • Singapore – based IGSS Ventures , a leading player in the semiconductor technology space , has signed an agreement with the Tamil Nadu Government for establishing a semiconductor park .
  • It was signed in the presence of Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin in Chennai on 1 July 2022 . This industrial park will be established on a 300 – acre land , with an investment commitment of 25,600 crore rupees in five years .

 

International Events:

International Plastic Bag Free Day : 3 July:

  • Every year , July 3 is observed as the ‘ International Plastic Bag Free Day . ‘ .It is observed to encourage people to use natural and eco – friendly alternatives to plastic bags and other items .
  • The first International Plastic Bag Free Day was observed on July 3 , 2008 , when Rezero , a member of Zero Waste Europe ( ZWE ) , initiated it . Zero Waste Europe Headquarters – Brussels , Belgium.

 

Sports Events:

Femina Miss India 2022:

  • Sini Shetty was declared the winner of the Femina Miss India 2022 title . The event took place at the Jio World Convention Centre on 3 July 2022 .

 

Parul Chaudhary:

  • Indian runner Parul Chaudhary on 2 July 2022 broke the women’s 3000m national record at the Sound Running meet in Los Angeles .
  • She has become the first athlete from India to clock a sub – nine – minute time in the women’s 3000m event .
