Nobel prize – PHYSICS

2016 Nobel prize for physics won by 3 British born scientists David J. Thouless, F. Duncan M. Haldane, J. Michael Kosterlitz.

They were discovered the unusual states of matter, which will be helpful in move to advance level in electronics and future quantum work in computer.

Currently they are working in U.S. universities.

Indian Bridge Management System

Indian Bridge Management system has been launched (IBMS). This system is to protecting the bridges in good condition for an effective transport.

About IBMS:

It is being developed to create an inventory of all bridges in the country and rate their structural condition so that its easy to carry out repair and rehabilitation work based on their criticality of the structure.

Some Facts:

IBMS is the world’s largest platform owned by a single owner with the database that exceed 1,50,000 bridge structures.

Best book in South Asian History

 NayanjotLahiri won the 2016 John F. Richards award for her book Ashoka in Ancient India.

The prize will be awarded in AHA 131st  meeting on January 2017.

About the Prize:

The John F. Richards prize is annually awarded by American Historical Association (AHA) to the best book in South Asian history.

About NayanjotLahiri:

She is currently working in Ashoka university as History Professor.

She got 2013 Infosys prize in the Humanities for her Archeological work.

SBI branch in Myanmar

State bank of India (SBI) has announced its foreign branch opening in Yangon, the capital city of Myanmar.

With this opening, SBI became the first domestic bank of India which open a branch in Myanmar.

The Yangon branch is the 54th foreign branch of SBI.
