National Events:

ARIES:

  • The Union Cabinet has approved the MoU to establish collaborative guidelines between the National Institute for Environmental Studies ( NIES ) , Japan and Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences ( ARIES ) ,India .
  • Both will implement joint research on air quality and climate change . ARIES is autonomous research institute established under the Department of Science and Technology .

 

ICMR & IAVI:

  • The Union Cabinet has approved the signing of an MoU between the Department of Biotechnology , Indian Council of Medical Research ( ICMR ) , and International AIDS Vaccine Initiative ( IAVI ) , USA .
  • It has been signed to contribute towards the development of new , improved and innovative biomedical tools and technologies to prevent and treat HIV , TB , Covid – 19 and other emerging infectious diseases .

 

MoHUA & DFAT:

  • The Union Cabinet has approved an MoU between the Ministry of Housing and ban Affairs ( MoHUA ) and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade ( DFAT ) , Government of Australia .It is for technical cooperation in urban water management .
  • It would reinforce bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the area of urban water security .

 

India & UAE:

  • The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal for signing a bilateral MoU between India and the United Arab Emirates ( UAE ) . It will be signed on cooperation in the field of industries and advanced technologies .
  • It aims at strengthening and developing industries in both nations through investments , technology transfer and the deployment of key technologies in industries .

 

India & Germany:

  • The Union Cabinet has approved the signing of Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU ) between S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences ( SNBNCBS ) , Kolkata , India and Leibniz – Institut fur Festkorper und Werkstoffforschung Dresden e.V. ( IFW Dresden e.V. ) , Dresden , Germany .
  • It has been signed for scientific cooperation in the field of ” Novel Magnetic and Topological Quantum Materials “.

 

IRCTC:

  • Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation ( IRCTC ) will be India’s first agency that will connect two countries through tourist trains under the Bharat Gaurav Scheme .
  • The train will depart from New Delhi on the Shri Ramayana Yatra Circuit and will cover a distance of approximately 8,000 kilometers to reach Nepal . It will also stop at Ram Janaki temple in Janakpur , Nepal .

 

Birsa Munda’s 122nd death anniversary : 9 June 2022:

  • 9 June 2022 marked the 122nd death anniversary of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda . He passed away at the age of 24 in jail during his trial in 1900 . Birsa Munda was born on 15 November 1875 .
  • He belonged to the Munda tribe in the Chota Nagpur Plateau area . He is known for his activism against the British rule in the region , which now forms the states of Jharkhand and Bihar .

 

Biotech Startup Expo-2022:

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Biotech Startup Expo – 2022 in New Delhi on 9 June 2022 .
  • The Biotech Startup Expo – 2022 is a two – day event to mark the completion of ten years of setting up of Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council .
  • It is being organised by the Department of Biotechnology and Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council BIRAC .

 

NHIDCL & IIT, Roorkee:

  • An MoU was signed on 8 June 2022 between National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited ( NHIDCL ) and IIT , Roorkee for sharing knowledge on innovative ideas and technologies in the field of highway engineering .
  • The MoU will play a significant role in realising the aims and objectives of Prime Minister’s GatiShakti , National Master Plan launched on 13th October 2021 .

 

’Support and Celebrate’:

  • In Meghalaya , the First State Women’s Conference on the theme , ‘ Support and Celebrate ‘ was held on 8 June 2022 at State Convention Centre , Shillong . The conference was inaugurated by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma .
  • The event was aimed at celebrating women and generating dialogues towards creating a sustainable and enabling environment for women .

 

 

’Beach Vigil App’:

  • Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on 3 June 2022 launched the ‘ Beach Vigil App ‘. The app has been launched in order to keep vigilance over the splendid beaches of Goa which forms a crucial part of Goa tourism .
  • The Beach Vigil App is developed by Goa Electronics Limited .

AICTE:

  • The All – India Council for Technical Education ( AICTE ) on 6 June 2022 became the first accreditation body in the world to have its own office space in the metaverse .
  • Information Data Systems Inc( IDS ) unveiled the outlook of the AICTE in the metaverse in an event on 6 June 2022 . In the same event Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also launched Polyversity , an educational metaverse .

 

Fishing cats:

  • Chilika Lake in Odisha is home to around 176 fishing cats , the recently concluded first fishing cat estimation study has found . This is the world’s first population estimation of the fishing cat , conducted outside the protected area network .
  • Chilika Development Authority conducted it in collaboration with The Fishing Cat Project . The fishing cat is also the state animal of West Bengal .

 

SEBI:

  • Markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India ( SEBI ) has restructured its advisory committee on mutual funds .The 25 – member advisory committee will be chaired by former Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India ( RBI ) Usha Thorat .
  • The committee’s mission is to advise SEBI on problems relating to mutual fund regulation and development .SEBI Headquarters – Mumbai , Maharashtra.

 

Tamil Nadu Events:

Solar power:

  • Tamil Nadu ranks 4th in All India in generating 5,000 MW of solar power. According to the Ministry of Renewable Energy, Rajasthan is the largest producer of 12,000 MW of solar power, followed by Karnataka(7,590 MW), Gujarat (7.180 MW) and Tamil Nadu (5,067 MW), Officials said.

 

 

International Events:

IAI:

  • Satish Pai was appointed as the new Chairman of the International Aluminium Institute ( IAI ) on 6 June 2022 .
  • Pai is the Managing Director of Hindalco Industries , one of the world’s largest integrated producers of aluminium . The IAI is the only body which represents the global primary aluminium industry .

 

”Right to Repair”:

  • In a world’s first , the New York state legislature of the US has passed the ” right to repair ” bill for digital electronics .
  • The bill will require digital electronics manufacturers to make parts , tools , information and software available to consumers and independent repair shops . The bill officially known as digital fair repair does not include motor vehicles .
